My Philosophy
My approach to all therapeutic work, whether it is ongoing psychotherapy or an evaluation, is to engage with genuine curiosity and compassion. I believe that curiosity is the truest pathway to empathy and understanding of another person's experience. In turn, this deep and integrated understanding of an individual's inner experience is the basis for the interventions that can bring about change and forward momentum along the developmental trajectory we all follow throughout life.
I work collaboratively. When individuals and families come to me, they bring questions or struggles. I find that those with whom I work often have the answers, but they need the space to tell their stories in order to find it, and support in asking the right questions along the way. Sometimes we will lean toward the practical skills which can support an individual with particular symptoms, and other times we will use the safe space of the therapeutic relationship to find ways to tolerate emotional experiences together.

Within the context of evaluations, I aim to meld the more "objective" data we collect with the quirks and unique aspects that make each child special. My goal is to address the questions the family comes in asking, and any other questions that arise along the way, and to immerse in the complicated information of the neuropsychological profile in order to ultimately make it a simple and relatable blueprint so that that child can feel understood and supported by the adults in their life and on their "team." Parents and students should leave the evaluation process feeling empowered to advocate for their needs.
